TAHI (The Application Home Initiative) is a not for profit organisation whose mission is "to accelerate the adoption of products and services by connected home based users". This means that TAHI looks for ways to improve the market for any product into the home space and all services that interface with them.

TAHI is a forum for understanding and growing the market. As such it has working groups in Energy Management and Smart Metering, Telecare and Assisted Living, Smart Building and Digital Infrastructure and, because all the infrastructure, services and equipment will have to work together, an Interoperability Working Group.

The IWG has been working to prepare a standard or set of rules for things to be interoperable and is standardising its Interoperability Framework Requirements Specification as a CENELEC Workshop Agreement. Beyond this TAHI is active in the Future Internet, since ultimately everything will be part of the FI, and is looking at helping its membership get involved in the EU FP7 Future Internet PPP call - expected in June.

TAHI is one of the very few forums where a wide variety of organisations can come together to take a holistic view of the market for systems into the home and form project consortia in an open environment.

Any organisation associated with products and services in the home space should join TAHI.
